When Gregory Carlson introduced Senate President Kevin Grantham to a crowd of Republicans on Saturday at the Abbey Event Center, he highlighted the gravity of having rural representation at the top levels of state government.
“It is such a big deal that our senator is the president of the Senate in Colorado,” said Carlson, chairman of the Fremont County Republican Party. “What it means is rural Colorado, for the first time in decades, has a senator (president) that is from a rural area of Colorado.”
Grantham, a Cau00f1on City resident who represents Senate District 2, was one of two keynote speakers at the local party’s a
ual Lincoln Day Di
er. Along with U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, he talked about policy and growing Republican leadership at the state and national level.
“We need a change in this state from bottom to top and top to bottom. And folks, I think we can do it,” Grantham said. “The momentum we have on a nationwide level, I think we can do it.””
