Walked in 2003
The only deviation from the walk will be to avoid the main road section from Blackwater; Stage 2 will finish at Shide by using the cycle path/path and Stage 3 will retrace these steps to join the footpath at Standen House.

Walked in 2007
The original walk starts from Yarmouth whereas this variation starts and finishes at Newport which provides a more central location using Newport to reach the starting point of each section then returning back to Newport by bus.
The only other deviation from the original is that section from Brook finishes at Newport rather than Carisbrooke Castle.
