Walk the Wight 201 - Bembridge to Alum Bay

 

Starting from Bembridge Airfield, the walk climbs onto Bembridge Down, then through Brading Marshes to Brading, passing beneath Brading Down, then arable farmland to Arreton, onto St George's Down, to the midway checkpoint at Carisbrooke, then following the Tennyson Trail  across Bowcombe Down, through Brighstone Forest, across Mottistone Down, Brook Down & Afton Down to Freshwater Bay, then onto Tennyson Down & across West High Down to Alum Bay

Weather: Early morning sunshine, clouding, heavy rain & strong winds for last 7½ miles
Time: 10½ hours - all photographs taken between 06:45 & 17:15
Terrain: Arable paths, downland & through woods with some road walking
Stiles: 3 (Note: all stiles removed for the day of the walk)
