Introduction
I don't know why, but I seem to start the Coastal Path walk from Blackgang these days; perhaps it's because once I've done a couple of walks which link up, I get the notion carry on.  More to the point, with the recent inclement weather, maybe it's because coastal paths tend to be less muddy than inland paths across farmland.
Of course, there's no reason why the walk cannot be started from any point and as the ferry terminals of Yarmouth, West Cowes, East Cowes & Ryde are all at a start/end point, so it's quite straight forward to reconfigure the walk accordingly.
I have chosen bus routes out from and back to Newport as these tend to radiate out from the centre of the island which makes it easier to arrange the return journey.
